No. DX12 is not a "response" to Mantle. Mantle is a low level API that seeks to reduce overhead. You don't think MS has known for 20 years that DirectX has an overhead? You think DirectX 12 was started AFTER Mantle? Insane.

There is no possible way that MS designed DirectX12 AFTER Xbox One. It is an absolute certainty that DirectX12 will be on Xbox One.

Fair points, but don't look at this as a Project Spark vs Indie. Indies might have good ideas, but there are some great ideas out there that people have but lack the ability to get them into code.
