My 300 hp BMW was cheaper to insure than a $3,000 9 year old corolla. So yeah, you can definitely be shocked by insurance rates.

Also a good idea...though I was surprised when my 2015 GTI actually ended being cheaper to insure than my 2010 Mazda3.

It’s too bad that WolframAlpha doesn’t make it easy to see what a little more on the principal payment does.
