Also, the most pro-military seem to not understand how a military works. The troops don’t get together and decide who to attack. They are ordered by non-military leaders. So why can we (and them) not question those leaders’ decisions without being told we “hate the troops”?

Somewhere around the Iraq War, where questioning where our leaders were sending our troops became equated with hating the troops themselves.

I’m just grappling with the idea that people will voluntarily spend tens-of-thousands of dollars on a “car” that serves only as an appliance to move them from point to point with the smallest amount of required personal involvement.
