I wasn’t familiar with the untimely demise of Rudolf Diesel, but while reading his Wikipedia entry I realized how lucky we were. Given how insanely complex German names can be, what are the odds we’d end up with “diesel” engines instead of Fashingbauer or Königsmann or something else unhelpful.

Not exactly. You’re always going to be adding more weight with batteries. That’s why even with minimalist trim and hardware on the Tesla Model S, the car still weighs slightly more than a Mercedes S Class. Imagine how much more an S class would weight with all the normal Mercedes luxury hardware.

Also, the weight penalty for having batteries is not so much of a problem when your vehicle is expected to weigh 3 tons anyways.

This is by far my favorite test mule:

It’s not like the “Real People, Not Actors” would be able to tell the difference either way.

Because the interest rates for used cars are bonkers as well, so for the same payment he can lease a new car under full warranty vs buying a used car that is likely has no warranty.

This is not the best comment in the world.

HooptieCon?

This times a billion. I cannot imagine how one would go about driving a Tesla Model 3 and having to, say, change the air conditioning settings while driving in traffic.

You know things have really gone to shit when even the Neutral President is outraged.

At least you get a piece of “flair”.

Man that is some cheap furniture for a CEO’s office.

I don’t know about that but do you live in SoCal? I do, the smog levels in the last 20 years have dropped so much that you can see LA from OC occasionally.

What’s stupid is that car makers are fully capable of meeting the efficiency standards. Engines have become vastly more efficient over the decades. But instead of that translating to gains in mpg, it translates to gains in horsepower while mpg remains stagnant. Instead of stuffing another 100hp into a Ford family

You should see the rear. It’s a 2nd generation Viper.

Heads up: I will consider blocking anyone whose response to this is anything resembling “I DON’T GET IT I’M OLD”

The true question is, is Italian build quality better or worse than Chrysler build quality?

Correct... because if it wasn’t an FCA vehicle it would’ve fucking worked

The only way those cars make financial sense is to make a Youtube channel about trying to fix them. But when Amazon bankrupts Dollar Shave Club, the Youtube economy will collapse.
