When was it that "RPG" started to cover nearly every type of title with an upgrade system? Suddenly games like Mass Effect, Ys, Dragon Age, Dark/Demon Souls are considered to be the same type of game as FF Tactics, Dragon Quest VIII and Chrono Trigger?
