It’s a base game with about 500 simulated variables to keep track of in a strategic simulation. I personally like that sort of game, but it has a very deep learning curve.

They’re treated a little like advisers and a little like generals. Basically, if you have one attached to your army, they burn the hell out of everything.

The actual battles are not tactical. Meaning it’s just a running tally based on a RNG and various modifiers. So more like a board game. You don’t control any individual groups of troops in battle, but you do send them off to die.
