I feel the need to point out that the Vulcans first contact with the Klingons would have predated the majority of Vulcans discovering Surek’s true teachings, as Captain Archer helped uncover them in Enterprise.

I expect that when the Orville does its inevitable Mirror universe episode, Allara will be the one with the goatee. 🙄
Well, that’s your fault for living in the wrong country. ;)
I gave up on the Orville after two episodes, and am enjoying Discovery.
And really, in the constellation of Star Trek TOS Captains, Lorca isn’t out of place. Captain Merik, Captain Tracey, Garth of Izar and John Gill set a really low bar.
I didn’t know anything about the dual role stuff, but suspected that Tyler was Voq. I attribute that suspicion to watching 80’s Who, where the Master would pop up in disguise.
Except Enterprise already did that idea in, with most of Vulcan only getting Surek’s teaching about 90 years ago. The Vulcans of the High Command in Enterprise were willing to kill to keep his true teachings surpressed.
How optimistic is Kirk’s era, really? I think people need to look at TOS with Fresh eyes because some truly messed up crap goes down in TOS. How many Star Fleet personnel do truly terrible things? Garth of Izar attempted genocide. John Gill created the Planet of the Nazis. Captain Merik betrayed his crew and let…
Even the Enterprise wasn’t necessarily filled with the brightest and best: Ben Finney, Marla McGivers, Lt. Boma...
I think people complaining that Discovery is very different from the utopia of TOS need to watch TOS again with fresh eyes. The Federation of TOS is a rather screwed up place that spawned Garth of Izar, who tried to commit genocide and J ohn Gill, who decided not only to ditch the Prime Directive on Ekos, but to…
They might be mentioning the Eugenics wars in advance of explaining the impact of the Augment virus on the Klingons.
When she turned on the lights I called out “There are 4 lights!”
Are you talking about Bjo Trimble or a Tribble?
I suspected it from almost the get go. But then I watched 80’s Doctor Who, and the Master used to pop up as other people, so...
I find Riker’s chin cleft distracting. And not in a good way. It’s offputting.
I would rather watch Encounter at Farpoint than the first episode of the Orville.
Pulaski was so horrible to Data! She and Riker’s terrible father deservedly each other.
Babylon 5 did it better.
I feel the exact same way. I wouldn’t follow Mercer on a Mission to Chuck-E-Cheese. He doesn’t have the maturity or self control to be captain, and their “We are short on Captains so we are giving you a ship” excuse falls flat when his First Officer is clearly more competent than him. MacFarlane doesn’t have the…
I think the guy administering the test is just trying to get on with it, and if he starts explaining everything to the guy being tested, it will mess up the results.
