What the OP failed to mention is that the voter ID laws were brought in relatively recently by the Conservatives to deal with mostly non-existent voter fraud, and were derided as a voter suppression technique on their part.

Not what I am doing. Just spitballing as to why CVS would bother keeping this employee around. Unless it was someone like a pharmacist, it can’t be that hard to replace a night employee. Not only did this employee embarrass them, their overreaction turned the place into a shoplifter’s paradise for over 1/2 an hour.

I don’t know about human rights legislation in the VA but mental illness is often a prohibited grounds for discrimination. CVS offering counselling and retraining to this employee might be a butt covering move on their part.

Mental illness is generally covered under anti discrimination legislation.
