The Avalon Hybrid is an excellent choice. The newest model’s exterior styling isn’t for everyone, but the interior is gorgeous, comfortable and very nicely constructed.

Great idea! There’s a lot of interesting cars out there in the relatively recent past - Isuzu Axiom, Pontiac Solstice Coupe, Mitsubishi Expo, etc. - that could be featured.

The Peugeot 601 is baller. Great post!

I think you mean the Studebaker, not the Excalibur. The top-spec Avanti exceeded 170 mph in testing and was the fastest production car in 1963.

You’re more thorough than most automotive journalists!

A guy I knew in college had a Marathon that he’d hot-rodded. It was fast, nearly as roomy as a minivan, and impervious to Boston’s potholes.

Thank you for the thorough response!

What kind of mileage do you get once the battery is depleted? The diesel Wrangler Unlimited gets almost 25 mpg in mixed city/highway driving. I’m wondering if the 4xe beats it.
