This is ageist, sexist and insulting - you win the trolling trifecta.

I think the 1991 Isuzu Impulse RS pulls off semi-covered lights better than the Lambo. Plus, it’s almost as rare.

It could hit 60 in about 5.9 seconds, which was awesome for the early 80s, especially for a four-seater.

The SRTs topped off at 156 mph and could hit 0-60 in 5.2 seconds. That was incredible performance for an affordable sedan in the early aughts. They were, by far, the fastest front-wheel drive cars you could buy in the U.S. and held the record for more than a decade.

Ha! The grill does look like baleen, now that you’ve pointed it out.

Maserati’s stunning GranTurismo convertible has an adult-sized rear seat. Multiple Mercedes convertibles also offer usable rear seats, along with a multitude of Detroit cruisers, like the early 1983 Riviera linked below.

Win!

Those are stupendous, but they hold their value so well that I doubt he’d find one with low miles under $30,000. I suppose one with 70,000+ miles would still have a lot of life left, though.

I had an S-class diesel from that era that would get about 35 miles a gallon, I imagine the smaller sedan would easily push 40 mpg. They’re sweet.

Good for you, and your supportive family. Best of luck.

Nice suggestion. A second-generation Isuzu Impulse might work too. BUT, parts for either of these cars would be hard to find.

As well you should. Those enclosed scooters are brilliant.

Has your X5 been reliable, and how often have you had to replace the urea fluid? Those BMW diesels always interested me.

That’s incredible to me. I’m taller and heavier than you, and fit in the back of a TourX just fine.

See The Hitless Wonderkid’s thorough commentary, above.

Are you talking about human children, or grizzly cubs? The TourX has a ton of room in the back.

My favorite (probably apocryphal) story about Mr. Bugatti was that he told an annoying customer who complained about weak brakes - “I build my cars to go, not to stop.”

Yes to the TourX. The Lacrosse is a pretty good choice too - you can get lightly used samples for under $30,000.

Is sitting that low actually tolerable? Miata seats aren’t especially tall to begin with.

The marketplace seems to agree with you, but I personally like that it combines a fairly subdued exterior, with a decadent interior.
