I did, too, and I also can't explain why!

I can understand and actually take a little interest - for me it's primarily because it's the first time that a royal baby will be next in line for the throne regardless of gender, which is an important historical thing. Not remotely comparable to the Kardashians, who I hope no child will ever read about in history

That's good. It makes me sad that I really can't watch anything by him anymore, because I want so much to jump on the smart, quick, liberal intellectual bandwagon, but he's just so goddamn awful with writing women. The best women characters in his movies/shows are good because the actresses bring more to the table

I have to do that all the time at my job, too :/

"Morgan ("it's a non-traditional spelling")"

I feel exactly the same way, and am so confused by it and relieved to see this thread of folks who feel the same. I haven't watched the show in several years, and I feel like it's irrational for me to be so sad about this when I didn't know him, and yet - I do feel incredibly sad.

That's certainly fair - sorry I am not so great with tone on the internet... :/

Oooh, sorry! I would agree that people would have to miss out on fancier/extravagant things because they don't have the money, however.

The extravagance, sure, but not necessarily the cultural tradition they value of sharing their marriage with loved ones with a party for it.

That's pretty rude and judgmental - some people value traditions like those, and the cultural celebrations around them. They shouldn't have to miss out on it because they don't have the money, and if they want to wait for it, who are you to judge them?

I have to say - I work in higher ed, too, and deal with a lot of legal things, and there are way too many administrators who simply do not understand that it's not 1955 anymore, the "old" way does not resolve issues and their way of handling things (e.g., ignoring them with the hope they will go away) is not

Seems rapey to me, particularly in light of all the times I've heard references to one team "raping" the other, i.e., winning the game.

Did you see 50/50? I really liked her in that, too.

I believe it is about ridiculous things people have said and done for sex, not lying - perhaps you can't read? Some of the things listed are just random stuff that people did and weren't that into, not lying about commitment, values, etc. like what is in this particular discussion thread.

False. If the person you are looking to have sex with is interested in more, and you lie about your commitment to more, that matters. The behavior listed in this thread is reprehensible.

It seems to me that it's almost entirely about control. What I find interesting is that from my perspective, you have even less control by not driving. You can't control who is driving you, and unless you live in a city with public transportation, you're totally limited in how far you can go unless you rely on

To be fair, her lyrics also say "I should have known" and something about regretting not listening to everyone else. I tend to roll my eyes at her emotional immaturity, but he was too old to be messing around with a teenager like her, and since he's someone who referred to an ex as "sexual napalm" he totally deserved

Yes! Yes, exactly. Very well said.

I'm glad that you wrote about this. It is definitely not the first time that xoJane has lied in the headline of a "It Happened to Me" piece. I actually stopped reading them because I felt so misled by the titles of a few of them that it didn't seem worth investing my time there anymore.

Poorly executed, but I still think she's onto something. Perhaps not about Brand, but certainly about other men - I can think of several I know who really like outspoken, intelligent women, but only to the extent that they can control them. It's pretty bizarre and frustrating, actually.
