This inflatable airbag system came out several years ago, still doesn't pass legal standards anywhere (including the EU, where it was designed) except for one standard that was created especially for it, the company refuses to release their testing results, and it's only able to protect users from a few limited kinds

"Serious question - how many cars have you had or your friends have had that have caught on fire after an accident? "

I wonder how many fires it's going to take before GM, Ford, Chrysler, etc admit that having flammable oil and gasoline in the same place as really hot engine parts is a problem they should look into...

Uh...less than the 310,000W motor?

Exactly. There's a lot of knee-jerk reactions from morons who can't do basic math.

Right, because if they got Teslas they'd just throw away the other police cars!

Who says they're not made for fleet use? Tesla's been selling them like hotcakes to livery services.

Atherton is 3-4 miles long, you fucking idiot.

265 miles for the 85kW-hr version is the lowest range figure (from the EPA. Tesla and some sort of third party rate it higher.) Assuming the cop drove 30mph average speed continuously (which is pretty much impossible) for an entire 8 hour shift (also not going to happen), there's still be range left over.

The windshield wipers are a nice touch.

The bicycle (okay, velocipede) laughs: 1817, bishes. By 1895, bicycles were everywhere and had been heavily refined (source) By the way: bicycle clubs made the automobile possible, as they were the ones who lobbied for higher-quality roads.

As ridiculous as this may seem to one who hasn't interacted with chickens, there's actually a lot of utility here. Living next to an amateur chicken farmer myself, I can attest that the animals have little regard for the presence of vehicles, and their feathers are decidedly lacking in reflective qualities.

This reminds me: I see very few US tracks, circuit or drag, that are adequately prepared for car fires...and this trend towards using airport strips frightens me, because they seem even more fly-by-night / less prepared safety-wise, and probably in areas further from FF stations, with no real address, etc. It's one

Why is it that every time you comment, it's completely inane?

That's a fuel leak, and had nothing to do with nitrous unless the leak was via plumbing for the wet injection.

There's a difference between "It's news" and "here's an extensive post documenting and speaking highly of/with respect for, something highly illegal and dangerous."

Except no modern safety...

The RS2 was an quattro GmbH/Porsche project (note the capitalization of quattro.) Porsche did little more than work over the intake/exhaust manifolds to improve flow for 1&5 cylinders and change the turbo; various cosmetic bits were borrowed/cribbed from Porsche, and of course the brakes which in reality came from

You know all those "systems" that "sanitize" your electric razor and whatnot?

"Brodrifters" is the term I'm coining.
