"Studies show that people would rather do something—anything—than be alone with their thoughts." Some people but not me and certainly not a lot of others. I'm as happy alone as in a group.

Calibre is like a trip down memory lane. The 2.0 screenshots for the Windows version look like the late 1980s. That said, I'm sure there are a lot of dedicated people who've labored many hours over it. Far too geeky for me though. I'll stick with InDesign.

Yuk! One more reason to carry luggage on-board.

Ah, which is better, chocolate chip cookies or German chocolate cake, both fresh from the oven? Ah.....

It's smart not to trust any ideology so power-hungry that it appropriates a color all for itself. That was true of red (communism), black (Italian fascism), and brown (Nazism). It is also true about green.

Oh, I don't know. I don't like being groggy all the next day. Better to just take down those ideas when I wake up for some other reason. Besides, for me those ideas come when I can't get to sleep, not when I wake up at odd times.

This is utterly insane. When I was seven I walked a mile to and from school every day. There's no reason why this boy could not do the same. About eight or nine, I was exploring deep into a rattlesnake-infested forest, dependent on my own sense of direction to get me out. That was good for me. I learned to be careful

One correction. For firefighters arriving at a disaster scene, a grey or black tag doesn't mean "not urgent, not important." It typically means someone so badly injured they either cannot be treated on the scene before they die or treating them would require so many resources that several others might die waiting for

Try proofing looking for only one kind of error on each pass (such as punctuation). I did that when I proofed for Microsoft and it seemed to work well.

Their ReStore locations are also a great place to shop for home improvement materials. I drop by one in my neighborhood almost weekly. You can find the closest on to you here:

In my case, blowing air in works much better. Blowing out would pull air in from the very hot attic. I know. I've tried both.

What I'd like most is an easy, app or email-based way to tag transactions as soon as they're made. Come the end of the month, I forget what that $29.87 transaction if for. And that tagging should include tax categories as well as the specifics.

I call this monovariable thinking. It assumes only one variable is at play, here gas consumption. But life's not like that. Other factors include:

I've never found much value in wallet-apps. I guess I'm just not that much a fan of any retailer.

Until the early 1960s, well-dressed women often wore gloves in public and a generation and more before that, so did the men. Perhaps, we'd be well-advised to return to the style. It'd certainly be easier than klutzing with sanitizers and airplane vents and probably more effective.

I tie one sock around the other with a simple overhand knot. it doesn't stretch the elastic, but of course it does take up more space.

The Better World Club seems to have gotten their name wrong. They should call themselves the AAAA for the American Anti-Automobile Association.

Just be glad there are no pay toilets on planes. One budget European airline is talking about charging for that.
