That's the tradeoff. You can have your gun, loaded, round in the chamber, safety off and under your pillow so you can quick-draw blow away the first noise you hear at night, or you can keep it safely locked up.

Well, what's wrong with storing your firearms unloaded in a locked safe? They're not saying you can't have loaded magazines that are ready to pop in. They're just saying don't have any rounds in your firearm. Which is incredibly good advice.
