My favorite hidden compartment that has some serious space: intake silencer. You can easily bypass it (think drilling a couple holes through the internal walls). The silencer has plenty of room. If done right, it won't impede performance. I mean, it's just a thought exercise...

Yup, it's great! Also, latest is that the engineer is presumed dead. The rescuers have not yet been able to free his body, though.

The engineer has been found inside the wreckage but has not yet been recovered. It is unclear if he is still alive.
