Huck Farvard.

+100 for this song.

I like to consider myself a font of sketchy-ass international wisdom.

True story: it’s almost impossible to get a paternity test in France. (Don’t ask me how I know this.) Per Wikipedia:

I think the rumors about Brangelina divorcing over Marion Cotillard are most likely false, but it’s worth mentioning that it’s widely known in the Paris film/acting scene that she and Guillaume Canet are in an open relationship. (I welcome all jokes about “French actors in an open relationship” being redundant.)

Anyone who’s posting on a soccer blog that Megan Rapinoe is a “nobody” clearly doesn’t deserve a sincere reply.

Now playing

We all know why Drake and Rihanna don’t work together.... they need Nicki Minaj as their third.

“Running” isn’t how I’d describe anything Xabi Alonso does on a football pitch, no matter how impressive.

That means a lot to hear, thank you. As I said upthread, I’m not French, but I’ve been living there for a while (back in the States visiting family at the moment), and I try to follow this stuff and read as widely as I can.

I’ve been trying to explain that to this person for three hours. It’s a lost cause.

Dude. Even the Occidental Observer (whose data comes from 2012, not 2014) admits that there’s no way of knowing how people identify:

I’m not arguing with your conclusions — a) France is becoming more diverse, b) that’s a good thing. I’m arguing with the evidence you’re using, aka, that the birth rate among “ethnic French” people is in free fall. My argument is a) we can’t come up with any good data about ethnic birth rates; and b) to the extent

(FYI: the ethnic data is collected from parents via survey and aggregated by the Institut national de la statistique et des etudes economiques - not collected on the birth certificate (not surprising, since the data is being collected about the PARENTS, whereas the birth certificate is about, you know, the baby).

I mean, I live in France most of the year. I legitimately find French apathy towards organized religion to be one of my favorite parts of French culture. And yes, the law does apply to all religions.

Wait, you think that I’m arguing with you because I’m upset that France is a multiethnic, multicultural state? Wow, have you misjudged this.

There’s so much here that’s so wrong that I couldn’t even begin to get into all of it:

I’m not talking about the 1905 law, which I agree was written largely out of concerns about Catholic anti-republicanism. But the 2003 ban on “conspicuous religious symbols” in public schools, while purposely written to be religiously neutral, came out of the specific debate about Muslim girls wearing headscarves.

I didn’t say you were advocating for eugenics. I said that talking about issues of culture in terms of relative birthrates is the same framework that eugenicists use.

All despite the fact that the birth rate among ethnic French people is in freefall and they are likely the future of your nation because they’re willing to immigrate and make enough babies to keep you afloat - but please, just keep wondering.
