Actually, it's the same kind of evolution. You can make direct parallels. The humans here simply act as the selective pressures to determine which tracks in each generation die out. We're no different than, say, the cold weather that kills off unprotected organisms, or the predators that kill off brightly-colored

Sexual reproduction: the combining of genes into a new genetic makeup in a new individual. It works, even if it's an uncommonly non-biological usage of the term.

The caveat here is in your last sentence: "and have a piece of software mix them into a melody". What is a melody? If you have to tell the computer what a melody is for it to make one, it's not evolved and very different from this. This algorithm starts with noise and, without knowing anything about rhythm, melody,

You're misunderstanding. Not a single human sets the rules of composition. The only part the humans play is that of a selective pressure—i.e. deciding which individuals in each generation go on to reproduce. That's not the same as setting the rules like tempo, melody, rhythm, harmonies, repetition, etc. It's just

Hey, hey, no need to call it awful. You don't have to Ruffles your feathers any time someone makes a pun.

Defect product? Meaning what, defective? How so? Care to elaborate on what makes this defective? You know, with support for your position instead of just empty disgust?

I agree. Most of Jesus's work is...well...questionable. But every once in a while he puts out a quality article that I appreciate. This was one of those. I guess he just needs to have a good day and write about something he likes xD .

Stocks work on expectations. So this must "seem" to be a goodie is a more accurate sentiment.

I don't believe "too optimized" was ever said by any mathematician or engineer...

I hope you realize that people DID interact with the tablet. It's only the keyboard that they couldn't use. That's sad, yes, but not as bad as hiding the entire tablet.

That's still a dedicated input area. It's dedicated to input of all kinds. And once again, see the Courier, as it's basically that concept, although with a more generic second screen which could easily be used as an input screen in software.

"The automotive fuel that cleans the environment..." if you ignore the fact that it's not the algae that's expelled as an exhaustive byproduct...

Gay men exist in Japan. Lubricant exists in Japan. It follows that Santorum exists in Japan.

Uh-oh. The keyboard seemed to be the best part of the announcement article, and they didn['t let you test that? Sounds like a bad sign to me...I hope it was just an oversight.

"It's this thick, has a thing on it, blah blah blah" sounds like objective reporting of the information to me...why don't you want that?

Name a high-performing chip that doesn't produce enough heat to warrant active cooling, and I'll name a higher-performing chip that does. Face it: better chips will always be hotter. As our chips get cooler, new chips will come out that are even better but once again hot. Just the way physics works.

Yeah, I posted that comment before Giz updated with the Type Cover info. Definitely a plus, something I really, really want to at least try out.

So you're saying, rather than cooling a hot chip, we should use passive cooling and be content with slower clock speeds? Isn't that a bit like saying "I don't want my car to explode, and gasoline is explosive, so I'll use a horse and carriage instead. It may be slower, but it's less problematic!"

I don't understand this. One site likes it, so you like it. This site thinks it's meh, so you treat them like they're biased. In reality, everyone is biased, and Endgadget is just biased in the opposite direction.

Yep. I love the idea. It's one of those "why didn't I think of it before?" moments.
