It’s very different. Buying independent studios that typically make games for various publishers including exclusives is very different from buying a publisher that owns many studios that typically make multiplatform games.

You’re ignoring the difference between buying a studio and buying a publisher. Spider-man was made by Insomniac AND Sony. As in Sony was the publisher and funded the game.
