The point I'm making is we never should have made those promises at all, if we're not willing to follow up on them. I fully agree that it's a no-benefit war, especially not for the Ukranians, I'm just saying that as far as reputations are degraded we're doing a fine bloody job of that already.

Guess we should never have promised to come to their aid if they were ever attacked, and signed treaties about just that. If you're going to put your word on the line, follow it up - or never be trusted again.
