My problem with these "tournaments" is that they're not really tournaments, they're just PR in the guise of a tournament. Like what they did with Brawl's launch. If this was a real tourney they'd let the contenders practice beforehand.. at least.

Agreed. No way I'm touching this. The 2D MS was a unique enjoyable experience. They should have AT LEAST made it like Little Big Planet where it's 2.5D instead of 3D, or just leave the 3D part for plazas but 2.5D during everything else.

I'm not sure about Ghibli (although I can't see why not, I'm sure plenty of people already made connections) but Ghibli totally linked the Nausicaa universe with Evangelion's quite well with that live action short film.

Yeah, I don't understand Nintendo's logic. I know big corporations care about money first and everything, but at least other developers/companies listen to their fans as well. If it weren't for Smash Bros. and Pokemon as well as them acquiring Bayonetta 2 for the Wii U, I would boycott Nintendo altogether.
