This is unsurprising. When some of the greatest power holders in the world support your cause, you tend to feel pretty fucking empowered to do and say whatever you want.

Servals are awesome (though I don't think I'd want one as a pet).
Generational poverty is terrible, really there are no words for it, and borne of historical awfulness.
Generational poverty > middle class family facing financial crisis due to poor decision making.
Yeah, I know. As I've said all throughout this thread, it was a general comment about middle-class people who are forced to use government benefits.
I think the doctor has every right to be concerned with people who are so obviously trying to game the system. He doesn't want any part of that. And, yes, this is an actual real issue.
These people aren't the real kind of poor (you know, born bred cyclical poverty). These are down on their luck middle class people who got out of the hole they made for themselves. They're not even poor anymore.
Nope. Keep your fancy things and try to find the same type of brands at consignment shops or online.
Don't be surprised that you're getting judged when you pick up your government benefits dressed up in flashy garb and an expensive (even if old but well maintained) car.
It's a general statement about former middle class people who now require government benefits. It wasn't aimed at that particular person written about on this post.
I made a general statement not aimed at any particular person.
I didn't communicate this well in my opening comment. I think it's fine to keep all of the things you had (cars, nice clothes, etc.) before you entered a lower income bracket. I just don't think you should go pick up your benefits in a fucking Mercedes, BMW, or whatever else high end car (that's what I meant when I…
What a great analysis and conversation you're giving me.
No. That's just normal from what I've seen. Owning a few pairs of the basics so you can go to school or work or wherever else you go. Normal things.
Yep. It's racist to point out that Asians/Asian-Americans go to a place called Asian Pacific Healthcare.
Owning a few nice pair of jeans, slacks, dresses, blouses and regular use shirts. A few nice pairs of formal/non-formal shoes and tennis shoes. Maybe a low end designer leather bag suited for all occasions.
It was a general comment and not one aimed at this lady who wrote the article.
I don't know. Is normal a look? We don't have to go to the extremes you posted.
Hmmm. I've seen similar situations with my doctor. The hospital primarily serves Asians/Asian-Americans and they come to him and ask him to sign medical unemployment forms and get free medicine from the dispensary available at the location.
