I think that he pointed it out for comparison sake, as Nintendo is saying that the Wii U is the first console of the next gen. The Wii U will see fewer, and fewer games due not only to lack of power, but lack of space as well.

I don't think that this is going to be a "game changer". I think that it will always be a novelty. Most people that I know that have 3D HDTVs, rarely watch anything in 3D. They don't feel like dimming the lights, and wearing the glasses.
