“Faux Patina” just screams hipster with more money than sense. I love the look but it is just too OTT. Dollars to donuts the guy who commissioned this is a self-absorbed DB and not someone who you’d enjoy a beer with. Now the original owner who understands value ... that is a sit down I would enjoy.

This looks much closer to the perfect Bronco:

I don’t know if those would do any good on this thing. It’s got no roll bars or crumple zones. It looks like the likeliest way to get into an accident is to take a sharp turn at more than 20 mph, in which it would probably flip over due to that high center of gravity, and seatbelts or not, you’re dead.

1. That’s not an original roadster. Original Bronco roadsters didn’t have that steel divider between seats and bed. Unless you could special order one from the factory like that, It’s more likely a dealer-converted pickup or the original owner bought a Bronco pickup and ordered the inserts at the same time so that he

Why is it a religious experience?

The taurus isn’t selling particularly well to the public. The chances are good that when you see one, it is either a rental or a cop car. In either case, getting out of the way is advised.

But for us consumers, there will be a rear-wheel drive configuration available.

ahem, Corvette has one of the highest manual take rates of any car

In addition to the Fiesta, Focus, Silverado, Sonic, Spark, Cruze, Corvette, Dart and Ram.

I love manuals but sometimes it can be frustrating. I’ve commented before about how the MK7 GTI shifter is like rowing a breadstick through clam chowder (no fix really) and how the pedal travel was way too long (fixed with clutch stop in firewall). My Mustang had a overly springy clutch (fixed with aftermarket Steeda

Why not? and you forgot Focus, Fiesta, Corvette.

Ford, Chevy and Dodge are still doing their part for the manual.

That’s shortsighted. Tarps are not as water tight as a tonneau, nor are they anywhere near as convenient. I’m not going to toss >$2000 of electronic tools in my bed only to cover them with a cheap tarp

Congrats on being the only person who thinks pickup trucks aren’t functional but your Camry is functional.

We have a 13 year old power retractable bed cover with no issues opening or closing whatsoever. Also, you put the dirt and chips UNDER the cover. This is just a solution in search of a problem.

I have a rollup cover on mine. I roll it up when I haul things like my ATV, dirt, rocks, etc and roll it down when I want to keep my bicycle out of the rain or putting luggage in the back. Why does everyone hate on truck owners so much? If you drive a Mustang slowly are you an idiot because you’re not using it for

In other words, it doesn’t actually offer any advantages...

It’s not.   This is an ad masquerading as an article.

My dad has this setup on his truck. Definitely the best of both worlds, although it’s not exactly the most secure in case of knife-wielding hoodlums.

What advantage does this offer over a standard retractable bed cover, like a Retrax? I’m just not seeing where the ability to lift it as one piece comes in handy if it can already retract.
