Requiring the sun was a STUPID fucking idea. Ruined the game for me and I never finished it. Now that I’m much older and am at work at 90% of the time, there’s no way in hell I’ll ever get around to finishing this game.

It was a complete reboot of the series and it was intended to take the series in a different direction. Of course it didn’t feel like the Castlevania/Metroidvania games that have been shoved in our faces for years on end. Going in a different direction isn’t a bad thing, and MercurySteam proved that.

The game looks fantastic, and I’m more than happy that MercurySteam was the developer of choice. The hate towards the Lords of Shadow series is so incredibly undeserved, and this is coming from a Castlevania “purist” who grew up with the original series as a kid.

Xenogears, Xenosaga, and Xenoblade have no real connection to one another. In fact, Xenogears is the only game that has actual meaning behind the title.

Let’s not get into spoilerific territory, but the whole ending was ridiculous and completely out of place.

I specifically called out the twist at the end of the game, so that should be pretty obvious.

It was a fantastic game, but that ending was such a slap in the face. That alone helped knock it off my “greatest of all time” list.

It’s a remake, not a remaster, which are two very different things. Nonetheless, I agree, it’s not a huge announcement.
