I can’t speak for 6, but 4 and 5, as action-focused as they were, still maintained a lot of what makes Resident Evil, Resident Evil. 1, 2, and 3 were never pure horror, and if you disagree with that, then you need to go back and replay them. Furthermore, the spinoffs are just that, spinoffs. I’m well aware of the

It’s definitely not the most “resident evil” a game in the franchise has been in years. Seems like the defenders of RE PT have their panties in a bunch far more than the people who recognize this for what it is, a PT ripoff with the RE name slapped on.

Your sarcastic comeback fell very, very short

So far, it's Resident Evil in name only. This could literally be any generic horror game.

Don't get worked up over it? It doesn't really sound like I am as I'm just pointing out the obvious. Resident Evil this is not.

Main line Resident Evil has never been a FPS or anything like PT. I agree that games need a change up here and there, but not to the point where you make a series completely unrecognizable. If you’re going to do something this drastic, call it a reboot or a new series.

Soooo, this is Resident Evil PT then? If this demo is indicative of what the game is actually going to be, I’m going to have a really hard time calling this Resident Evil.

The feminazis are gonna have a field day with this one.

Pseudo survival system and loot? Why?

Are you speaking English?

Game looks very fun, but the main characters looks... Dumb.

100% accurate. I have fond memories of playing RE1 and getting offed by a Hunter because the controls just wouldn’t let me move fast enough. I'll still never understand how people do knife only runs. Fucking maniacs!

As soon as Resident Evil VII popped up, all I could think to myself was that Capcom had nothing original to bring to the table, so they decided to hop on the PT train. Other than the mansion, that's not Resident Evil. That doesn't even really invoke feelings of RE1, either.

Now I know I'm on Kotaku. Can't dislike something without someone getting their panties in a bunch.

I've played both series since they first started in the 90s. Regardless of similarities in the gameplay, the atmosphere is decidedly silent hill, not resident evil.

But it was never just about “fighting zombies.” Crows, dogs, hunters, flies, snakes, spiders, plants, etc... RE has never been straight horror. It’s always leaned on the side of action-horror. Nonetheless, I will agree with others who state that earlier entries in the series created more tension. However, a lot of

As I said to another user, that comment was directed at another user in regards to another thread. I mistakenly thought that the user had responded to me again in that thread, not this one.

Wtf_g seems to be following me around, so yes, I will tell him/her to move along.

I didn't tell you to move along, I told another user to move along. Unless you're that same user...

My reply to wtf_g was in response to the trailer that was shown for the new Kojima game, not for the RE7 trailer. He had already responded to me in that thread, and I wrongly assumed that he had responded to me again in that same thread, which is why I made that comment. So that’s my mistake. I’ll agree with you that
