Beautifully is a stretch, but fine given what TFA offered; adequate is better than bad haha. But I am a weirdo who thinks TFA is the worst of the ST and TRoS is the best (though I did see it slightly inebriated in one of those 4D theaters and that greatly influenced my decision haha).

The issue for me was that when Luke saw that his nephew had misunderstood his actions, and had turned evil as a result, he would go after him. Instead he sulked. Luke is the guy who could see the good in Darth Vader, but not his own nephew? It didn’t fit the character. Maybe it’s a “real” reaction but these are heroes…

Honestly, I don't know how people thought that TFA could have led to any other version of Luke. People don't hide themselves in the most secluded place they can find because they are eager to fight.

Honestly I think if a Captain put a California Class ship in the middle of a battle like that they’d be demoted.

Exactly. Showhorning massive fleets into these shows is dumb. These are CAPITAL ships, they can do insane amounts of damage by themselves. This is why having even two ships present is such a big deal in the other shows. Stop trying so hard, showrunners.
