They are. It's been confirmed the figures are conventional LEGO minifigures that you put together and put on the NFC bases, and the accompanying vehicles / accessories are similarly traditional LEGO builds using LEGO elements (hence the piece counts found on all the packages).

If you'll forgive such a belated reply, I should note it's still not his introduction anyway. His intro was sleeping aboard the Botany Bay in the original series episode "Space Seed".

    Why can't they be both?

Wow, that does sound great. I'm really sorry I missed it.

No marathons there and then, alas. I did go to the Star Trek 25th anniversary marathon in '91, but I went to Atlanta for that, and didn't really get to do any sort of true marathon again until AMC's Avengers marathon two years ago, and a few others of theirs since then (although there have been many times over the

Up until the mid-2000s, LEGO sets typically had photos on the backs of the boxes of various alternate models that could be built with the parts in the set. I don't remember encountering that VT-49 Decimator in the EU, but I do remember seeing an alternate model on the back of the package for LEGO's second

Whoa - where in NW FL? I was living in Niceville at the time, and spent a lot of time in Mary Esther / Fort Walton Beach / Shalimar / Crestview / etc., getting my geek fixes at TBS Comics, the Book Harbor, Cinco Cinema, the Picture Show (RIP), etc.

LEGO invested several years and millions of dollars into an MMO, LEGO Universe, and it was a fine game that incorporated all the features you just listed and more besides. Unfortunately, not enough people played it, and it folded after not much more than a year. Alas.

Actually, it isn't. The characters do look like existing MLP toys, but they're actually renders of custom designed elements that conform to LEGO geometry and all (they even have studs on their backs, which can't be seen from the angle of this picture). The project proposal also includes a lot more than just the

It's more that their Jurassic Park line was done not as its own full-blown line, but rather as a subtheme of their LEGO Studios theme, which was all about moviemaking - note the inclusion of film crew, cameras, etc. The minifigures "in the scene" aren't supposed to represent the characters, per se, nor even really the

It's not a case of them "not using the copyright"; they only relatively recently acquired it, and will be using it to make toys based on the upcoming fourth movie (which was originally going to come out next year, meaning Hasbro would have to be planning their sets now).

    Oh, dear. That's awful.

Yeah, I realized that just after posting. Blargh. I'm a doofus.

They did have "kits" (if by "kits" you mean sets that built specific models, with instructions included) back in the '70s, you know. They've had such kits for decades. And the pieces from them all can still be used in other ways, and used to build all sorts of stuff.

BS. Not only do they still sell basic brick boxes and buckets, but one can also buy individual bricks now, which one couldn't do back in the old days.

    Nicely done. :)

Screw the haters; I'd love some LEGO My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic sets myself. That said, I'm afraid I also have to rain on your parade, but for different reasons - this theme just won't ever happen. MLP isn't just a TV show, but first and foremost a toy line, and one made and owned by a toy company other than

There was some neat stuff there, but I couldn't stand Kevin J. Anderson's portrayals of either Lando Calrissian or C-3PO, and for a tech-oriented writer he seemed to get a lot of technical details about vessels and droids wrong, IIRC. Mind you, it's been many years since I last read them, so perhaps I've gotten

That's truly excellent of you. Bravo!

What, no Gremlins? Or is this just for Christmas installments / specials from previously-established series that didn't start off with holiday celebrations? Also, I want to note "Santa Claus" is only one of a couple great Christmas episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000; the first was the immortal "Santa Claus
