I think the most surprising thing about it to me was that they had to replace tires every 30,000 miles or so. I’m sure that’s due to the weight of the vehicle, plus carrying people around half the time, but still, I’d have expected them to get to 50-60k on average.

I think the head game component of this can’t be ignored. Whether or not there’s an actual in-race benefit of this system doesn’t matter at this point - they’ve now put other teams on the back foot and are forcing them to take time away from other developments to investigate this and try to implement it in their own…

Man that book is so good. My only critique is that I wish the diagrams were larger so his notes and things were more legible. But it provided such a fascinating insight into the evolution of F1 car design... I’ve let a friend borrow it for a while and I just might read it again when I get it back.

The more we’ve invested in battery technology though, the more advancements we make. Charge times have gone down sharply over the last 5-10 years and that looks like it will continue happening for quite some time.

I freaking love Mariano’s.  Unfortunately I live about 1,000 miles away but there’s one a couple of miles from my mother in law in the Chicago suburbs and I look forward to going there when we visit.  I might give this flavor a try next time I’m there!

The Valkyrie race program is being axed, but they’re still going to produce the road car and that’s what appears to be driven by the Red Bull Racing drivers today at Silverstone. 

Unique in the market aside from the one from Polestar, which I initially forgot about... but I think they’d be different enough that the Kia would still appeal to a different buyer. Especially if it had a liftback design like the Stinger sedan... 

If only they’d take the original Stinger concept and introduce that as their performance EV. Don’t touch anything as far as styling. We’d have an awesome, insanely powerful 2-door EV coupe which as far as I know would be unique in the market and could definitely serve as a halo car.

Didn’t even read the article. Voted NP. I’ve had an irrational desire for these cars since I was a kid, probably because that’s around they time they were being raced, but also because it was one of my favorite Matchbox cars to cruise around with.

I wonder what the statute of limitations is on that... otherwise someone could get themselves busted for insurance fraud pretty easily.

I wonder, if someone were to have successfully hid one from GM so it couldn’t be repossessed, would new GM still have a claim to it or did that claim die with old GM? Surely a handful of people or organizations that had one were able to squirrel them away somewhere.
