I’m starting to think Jalopnik is to The Drive what Toro Rosso is to the Red Bull F1 team.

Over 3,000 sexual assaults and 9 murders... so still better than the NYC subway system?
McDonald’s should keep this technology in-house and use it to replace the plastic they make their meat with.
Great article - my wife and I dusted off my mom’s French toast recipe last week for the first time and used thickly-sliced cinnamon swirl bread.
Hey-ooooooo!
Yeah, I think it opened last year. It’s right on Mannheim, pretty much right across the street from the intersection with Bessie Coleman Dr. which is the road that took you to all of the rental lots previously. I think the plan is for the shuttle train to take you there directly from the terminals, but I don’t know if…
As a Patriots fan, I laughed and I know it’s absolutely true. I think that’s probably only a couple of years away at this point.
I always cheer for Ferrari (among a handful of others) so here are some of my thoughts:
If you’re worried about traffic or being late for your flight for some other reason, it might be worthwhile to prepay just for the peace of mind. But if you’re able to build a little extra time into your trip to the airport to allow for refueling, then of course doing it yourself will be cheaper.
Chicago isn’t bad - if you’re going into Midway there are a few stations on Cicero Avenue, and if you’re at O’Hare there is a station about a quarter mile away from the rental car facility on Mannheim Rd, next to a McDonald’s if memory serves me correctly.
Up until now I never even realized that Johnson & Johnson and SC Johnson were different companies. Even though the names are different, subconsciously I’ve been thinking of them as one in the same. Oops!
It’s not even the screens or phones alone that are distractions - phones are the popular target but long before they became ubiquitous people were still doing dumb shit like trying to eat (everything from fast food to using actual utensils for a plate of food from home), reading a book, shaving, applying mascara, or…
After not realizing Wreckfest has been out on consoles since August, I’ve been making up for lost time over the last week so I’ll be playing quite a bit of it this weekend. It’s really a great game - graphics are excellent, car damage is gruesome and well-modeled, and the races are challenging enough to want to do…
Like a boss!
My wife did CrossFit for a while, and the gym WAS actually in an old auto repair shop building - grimy cement block walls and all, although the gym stuff was in top condition and always very clean.
This looks like the perfect spot to move Jalopnik HQ. The cost of buying the property and restoring the building (or at least making it safe/clean) is probably less than five years’ worth of office space rental in Manhattan, so it should pay for itself pretty quickly, and it’s RAD.
Best of luck wherever life is taking you next!
It’s a myth that dingle arms are commonly used to prevent side fumbling of the spurving bearings, when in reality they are there to prevent sinusoidal repleneration.
But the difference with NASCAR compared to F1 or Indy is that they are often referred to as “stock cars” and it wasn’t all that long ago that they actually bore a very significant resemblance to the showroom vehicles they represented, even if everything underneath the sheet metal was entirely different. That was…
Good at hiding it is what I’m going for - you can still tell an Audi from a BMW, etc. without needing decals on it that tell you what it is.
