My point about them earning minimum wage is both a comment on their own ambition/ability and the company that employs them. Maybe it’s different where you are but in my area the major chains (Zone, O’Reilly, Advance) have “assistant managers” making $.50 over minimum wage.

It shouldn’t be a shock that the big parts-chain clerk making minimum wage didn’t want to put the effort into figuring out your battery, or didn’t have the experience/knowledge to figure it out even if he wanted to.
