Imagine if AutoWeek had gotten out of the subscription mentality and had the foresight to offer a free-to-access, full-featured internet site with frequent, relevant, interesting content, hi-def images, and a chance for readers to interact with the site and each other via a comments section.

Ahh, Automobile... In another post I listed off the auto mags I subscribed to in my teens and 20s and I knew I was forgetting one, and that was it!

I agree with you almost completely. First of all, God bless John Davis.

A real shame, but the writing was on the wall a long time ago. When they switched to bi-monthly it was really only a matter of time before it disappeared entirely.

As soon as he got sideways he was Gaughan, baby, Gaughan.

The bastardization of the word “coupe” has hit a new milestone.

I think at first glance it’s easy to assume his whole persona is about toxic masculinity, but the more you watch the show the more it’s revealed that isn’t really the case.

I don’t fry things all that often, but I wonder if using an infused olive oil of some kind would add another layer of flavor... or if it would just ruin the balance of the other flavors that are already in it?

Thanks for the great replies, this has been interesting and informative. I didn’t know that about Costco’s CEO; that’s a real stand-up move. It reminds me of the leadership at Southwest Airlines back after 9/11, where at least a few of them worked for free to avoid furloughing any employees and sure enough, it worked.

And really, why even a week’s worth of errands? Plug the car in at home every night and you’ve got a “full tank” every morning, which is something you can’t usually do with an ICE vehicle.

So the real lesson from that chart is what a great freaking deal the Fusion Plug-in Hybrid is.  You can pick them up cheap, they’re comfortable and reliable, they’re styled well... as long as you don’t need trunk space for anything larger than a bag of groceries or an umbrella, it’s a great car.

I came here to say this but I didn’t have the numbers in front of me. Thanks for the clear, detailed post...

When I referred to “better” engineering I was referring to the fit, finish and materials quality of the interior, and features that the Porsche has that I don’t believe are even available as options on the Tesla such as the electromagnetic sway bars and the two speed transmission.

Unless I’m mistaken, as I understand it the Taycan will be able to use the fast charging network being rolled out by Electrify America, which is a division of VAG created as retribution for the diesel scandal. At the very least, where Tesla uses a proprietary charging port, the Taycan uses a more readily-available

I was told by a Kia dealer once that they couldn’t remove the VIN etching charge (I think it was like... $250) because it was already done when the car arrived on the lot and that they do it to every car they receive. I asked him why, and he said it was for their security purposes and that their insurance company

If they cannot pay a decent wage for their employees then perhaps we should have let them fail when they did instead of waiting for it to happen again.

So the base Taycan is about $25-30k more than a base Model S, but with the Porsche you’re getting better overall fit and finish, better engineering on a brand new chassis, and a new generation of electric drivetrain (with quicker charge times).

Finally Actually Dead: The Average Cadillac XTS Buyer

I’m gonna say the worst markup I’ve seen is NOT some crazy “market adjustment” for a hot new vehicle.

I dig now, yeah... totally missed it earlier.
