I doubt the gap in the charging network will exist in a couple of years. Volkswagen has been adding a TON of fast charging stations all around the country through their Electrify America subsidiary. Given that a lot of regular VW models will be BEV starting in only a couple of years, I don’t think they’re wasting any

I think by that point, individual car ownership for the vast majority of people will be a thing of the past. The Ford Automatron might be “grounded” at that point, but whatever robo-taxi service you contract with for your daily transportation would find an alternate vehicle to use.

This might just be part of the training program for dealers to help with the ownership experience.

That’s exactly the problem though. He’s delusional and it’s entirely his fault that these cars are now worthless and having to be scrapped because he A) left them to rot in a field forever and B) “tried” to sell them by asking full book value and unsurprisingly found no takers.

A very small part of me feels for this guy, but...

How did you handle the sudden fame? Did you find it hard to work drive-thru with all of the talent scouts watching you from across the parking lot with binoculars?

I had thought Starbucks was one of the first companies to voluntarily implement a $15/hr corporate minimum wage but it appears I was mistaken. Their benefits are far superior though, and that can be very valuable for a lot of folks.

If it’s a high-volume establishment like a coffee shop, that can add up if they process a Customer every minute or two. I still personally try to put in at least a dollar if I have it, but the change is better than nothing.

I bet the pay is probably the same. Chains don’t necessarily pay more because they’re larger, and in fact, sometimes it’s the other way around.

The story referenced in the article (in the paragraph that I quoted) does not mention McDonald’s at all, just the fast-food category in general. Their study does break out “fast casual” as its own category (Panera, etc.) but even then I think the line is blurred between the two categories and the tipping policy at one

My wife uses her app all the time (and sometimes I use it myself) and I’ve never seen a popup like that. Not calling you a liar, just haven’t seen it in my experience. Maybe it only exists on a newer version and she hasn’t updated? Weird...

I still call bullshit. So that burger survived a six hour flight, plus another couple of hours going through airports and other modes of transportation, and “falls out” of her bag on a sidewalk in Queens and remains in perfect condition? No wilting lettuce? No smashed bun from being squeezed into a carry-on or a TSA

I think (I hope anyway) the ever increasing use of plastic at places like that will force those companies into paying regular wages instead of forcing their workers to rely on tips. I hardly ever carry cash with me anymore and there are more and more people out there doing the same thing every day. If the option is

I can relate, as I always personally feel awkward as an American when I travel abroad and I’m not sure if I should tip or not.  At restaurants I usually do 20% or more, but I know that kind of tipping culture doesn’t exist outside the US. So I don’t want to overspend but I also don’t want to be rude and feel like I’m

I’m willing to bet a lot of that has to do with they payment system. So many Starbucks regulars load up their Starbucks card and pay with their phone, so having a tip jar there for cash (which most people probably aren’t carrying) isn’t going to accomplish much.

But... but... Changing the pizza paradigm! #disruption!

I wouldn’t consider this option because the introvert in me wants it, but I’d consider this option simply to avoid a disappointing interaction with the cashier/counter employee.

An inquiry into restaurant tipping (as written by our own Kevin Pang) suggests that “At fast-food restaurants, 81 percent of diners say they don’t tip.” The curiosity then comes from that remaining 19%, who’re either claiming to tip fast food workers (a practice that, at least anecdotally, none of the Takeout staff

Kilmeade nailed it. I remember when I was working at Burger King in high school and earned Employee of the Month, I got so many calls from Wendy’s and McDonald’s trying to recruit me that I practically had to change my number! Eventually I worked my way up to Team Leader at BK, but since I couldn’t figure out what to

So for $5,000 you could have your VIN end in 00001, then take the car to Barrett-Jackson where people go mad for that kind of shit and probably sell it for $350k. Sounds like a solid plan...
