I wouldn’t know that analogy because my local strip club hasn’t been refurbished since the 80's...

Not to mention the Town Car shared a chassis and drivetrain with other cars that were very popular at the time; Crown Vic and Grand Marquis.  Just the fleet sales on the Crown Vic alone would have paid back their investment in the new engine and any chassis upgrades!

That one belongs in a mooseum! It’s udderly ridiculous.

Fun fact:  Lots of limos have a vinyl or cloth roof because regular painted sheet metal would show a lot of wrinkle lines and deformation from when the body flexes, especially later in its life.

I didn’t know that was a thing!  Without the roof to add structure I think the car would have as much body flex as the hired professional working the pole...

The Town Car limos usually have a larger brake package. If I’m not mistaken, I think the rear brakes are the same as you’d find on a 3/4 or 1-ton Econoline van.

The Lincoln funeral conversions are pretty cool, especially the flower cars. There aren’t many of them around... I’m partial to the 85-89 body style myself.

Cool, I didn’t know that! Thanks for the info.

It’s amazing to me how they were able to keep/adapt so many of the styling elements of this to the first-gen Intrepid/Concorde/Vision. Usually you can only spot similarities between concept and production vehicles if you squint but these appear virtually identical!

Intrepid was FWD, but the concept above claims to be RWD.

And along with that V6 there was a FWD transaxle as well. The V8 concept is rear wheel drive, so I think they could have made it work. Especially if they went with a dry sump system to keep the mass lower in the chassis.

That’s an interesting look at things. I know people have mentioned the effect that large-scale EV adoption would have on our electrical grid, but I never saw the math broken down on just how much power needs to be transmitted in such a short amount of time.

But it DID get us all talking about Burger King.

I hope Mahk makes an appearance in a fake “Real People” ad talking about how he just got laid off and can’t buy a new car.

I share your frustration!  Slapping the -gate suffix onto any scandal is both lazy and incorrect.  Of the people that do that, I wonder how many actually think the Nixon scandal was about water?

I thought the federal tax credit was $7,500? So that would bring the effective starting price of this down to around $28-29k, and probably around $35 for a fully-loaded one.

They said pricing wasn’t officially released by Kia yet; they estimate starting price to be around $36,000 before the federal tax credit. So even before the substantial difference in the tax credit (Kia = full $7,500; Tesla = $3,750 currently) there’s probably more than a 10% difference, especially on like trim levels.

I think it’s even more impressive that only one guy has been on the field for all six championships (and all 9 trips to the championship game). I think it says a LOT about the Patriots organization and Belichick’s coaching methods that they’ve been able to accomplish all of this with a rotating cast of characters,

GMC is going to town talking about how innovative its Multi Pro tailgate is on the new Sierra, meanwhile AMC had a very similar setup on the Ambassador wagon almost 50 years ago (minus the extra fold-out seat/step part, since the Ambassador wasn’t unnecessarily tall...).

Pepsi and Coke want you to think they’re the only two options. I’ll always be on Team Moxie as long as there is one!
