Registry data (blind to owner information) has been made available to third party catalog companies. Basically, when you type in the license plate number in the catalog it cross-references it to the VIN and completes the lookup that way. Pretty slick, and eliminates a lot of erroneous information!

There’s a “Bargain Rentacar” near me that rents 10-15 year old Tauruses and Sables for $25/day (or $20/day if you’re a repeat customer...)

I can see where a subscription plan could fit into the market. To lease you’re going to commit to that vehicle for at least two years, usually three, and you’re on your own for insurance and often maintenance as well. For rental cars, you’ll spend a month’s subscription fee in two weeks, maybe less, and insurance may

Going by the painted lines, although imperfect, seems the most practical for a couple of reasons.

Tesla was smart to release the information. While the NTSB conducts the investigation, Tesla is being tried in the court of public opinion. News outlets, lacking facts, jump all over stories about the scary robot cars that are out to kill people.

This seems like something Morgan should do. I could totally see the 3-wheeler having wicker seats, and I’d be okay with that.

I believe the term is “convergent evolution”.

Lots of people knock the Altima, but it’s a damn fine way to travel if all you want is basic transportation. It can even be trimmed out pretty nicely if you want some tech and luxury stuff...

I hope this vehicle helps bring Lincoln back to the level that it should be. The Continental was a good start but this should have broader appeal.

Nope, I’m on the east coast... your local outfit dwarfs the one in my area. This one only has about a dozen scary Tauruses and Focii at any given time.

We have a similar company in my area (or maybe it’s the same company and you and I live in the same town?) and they also sell some of those Tauruses for like $2-3k. My wife once had an old Sable that we were going to trade in, but another dealer literally wouldn’t give us anything for it so I stopped by the rental

Keep in mind that not all small independent dealers are shady “buy here/pay here” lots. Some are genuinely good people who would sell you the car for cash and actually want you to be happy with it.

I don’t think I’d ever own a red car, but Mazda’s Soul Red is beautiful...

Even still though, heated leather seats and nice sound systems are still things that are considered “luxury” items, you just don’t have to stick to a handful of premium brands to find that now. So I’d consider certain aspects of the Ridgeline to be luxurious...

I would have it just like that except literally ANY other color.

The TLX shouldn’t be a disappointment. It has a lot going for it, even though I prefer the original design to the updated grille which I think looks forced and oddly-proportioned.

Available with heated leather seats, driver aids, etc... I’d say that’s pretty luxurious. Especially when compared to the smaller pickups from 10-15 years ago that were cramped stripper models (like the S-10 or Ranger).

The Frontier IS from 2003 and is a genuine piece of shit. It’s a poor representation of the brand overall.

Having managed a small fleet for over ten years, I’ve found that almost anything will last beyond 200k if you maintain it. Not just oil changes but also timing belt replacement, etc. And that’s with a lot of harsh stop-and-go, dozens of different drivers, etc. Highway miles should get you to 300k easily.

I didn’t know your name wasn’t Tom so you could have fooled me, but I appreciate your honesty!
