Back seat can be useful in a pinch. Furthermore, it's always a convenient talking point and great prop for silly challenges.

Just dropping in to echo this! The 86 is a livable car. It’s my only car, daily driver. I do my moving with it. My mountain bike fits in it, along with my road trip luggage, camera gears and light camping stuff. It does light off road just fine but not recommended. I’ve slept in the back but that’s totally not…
The Lotus Esprit X180 was designed by Peter Stevens, who also designed the Lotus Elan, McLaren F1, Jaguar Xjr-15 and the 555 Subaru Impreza WRC, and other MG cars. You can see why it’s so handsome.
Oh my god, I may actually know the person who made this! When I was in grad school(outside of Detroit), there was a fellow student in another department who was a jewelry maker by profession. He was a Chinese immigrant who was in his late 40s I think. He helped me make wax cast of my work and so I got to know him. He…
I have only one car and I daily the hell out of it, even when I have to get deep into the mountains to ride my bike. All of my friends drive high ground clearance cars like SUVs and cross overs. I just stick to my stock GT86, packed to the brim inside and putting my PS4 tires to the test. However I do wish I have an…
Like dentist appointments, I’d pay more just to get knocked out for long hauls. There’s no seat or cabin design that will make anyone comfortable for more than a few hours straight.
I commute in my 86 through city traffic daily, done road trips and regular long hauls on the highway as well as occasional spirited driving. I’ve never felt the need to have an arm rest. May be if I do get one I will be convinced, but still, to me it’s not a necessity and certainly does not break the driving…
Ok ok I will just focus on the main point that they want us to focus on(and ignore the rest). It says by absorbing water on road surface it increases wet traction and the water becomes a supplement to the moss.
Ever heard of centrifuging force? You know, the physics behind tossing out water in a washing machine? The…
Taiwan. Korea will be pretty bad too I think. Singapore is another place that have gotten really ridiculous in education culture too.
Warranty issue? I think it’s interesting if you are trying to sell something that you market it to be modified, how will the product warranty work. Here in Taiwan, Toyota has insane warranty. 4 years 120 000km warranty on all cars. This is practically designed for cab drivers! It’s a very clever tactic I think because…
Few years ago I took my Industrial Design college students to a local kindergarten to run a program. During one group activity, my student had the kids draw the theme “home”. There was a four year old and a six year old in the group. The four year old produced a chaotic piece of work with colors flying off the page,…
As a GT86 owner I am not someone who mod cars or race them. I just love to drive, and this car allows me to really enjoy driving without the fear of “over-driving” it because it’s not an exotic. That said, no one really buys it for creature comforts. The version we get here has dual climatic control and heated seats…
I am not really a resin model hobbyist but every time I see those Tamiya model kits I really want to buy them all, not because I want the build models, but I just love the illustrations on the boxes. If I can purchase John’s work, it will end up in picture frames. But seriously, Tamiya should hire him to do a series…
It all depends on how brave you are!
Here we have tiny cargo vans. I once saw a tiny van pass a Smart on the freeway without having to change lanes. The Smart just moved to the right of the lane and the van just went around it. Coolest thing I’ve ever seen on the road! I guess while considered a boring econo box, it still can do cool stuff.
How interesting that this article comes out just right after we held a workshop with a car-industry related company where we sort to create ideal scenario for future car users. However I noticed that most of the focus of such “future scenario” for cars are placed on technology, such as interactive interface,…
That’s actually based on the GM tech center in Warren Michigan.
Most of these are drivers annoying people with loud exhaust. In a way I am glad that my stock 86 has nothing to annoy people with in that department.
Even if the tires are indeed slashed on purpose, that person did her a favor by saving her ass. Tire blow out while doing 60mph on the freeway will be a serious endangerment to all the innocent folks who she’s gonna hit.
So its basically sponge in circular form? Can you imagine hitting a dog poop with that? All the splatter yet you can’t just hose it down cus all the filth is trapped within. I am working on a tire related project and all these concepts from Goodyear, Hankook and Michelin doesn’t make any sense, even from concept…
