Inductive charging gets less efficient with distance. Cell phones in direct contact with the pad (i.e. a few millimeters between the wire coils) are about 15% less efficient than a cable.

Yeah, the best I’ve read are at 90% efficiency. At an L2 (overnight) charge rate of 11kw, you’re throwing away 1.1kw, basically like running an A/C unit outside just for the heck of it.
