No, only making educated guesses based on trailer, movie info, promotional material and previous similar movies, i hope i'm wrong but everything so far says i'm not.

Well, sorry to shatter your little fantastical world filled with candy, rainbows and unicorns, i had to.

“People are so full of shit”, that’s exactly the reason why a non-white person might make a story glorifying the “White Savior” trope, because people aren’t cardboard cut-outs like you think, people are complex and vulrenrable to plenty of outside influences that goes aganist common ideas or cliches, that’s why there

Hope that's the case, but only the movie itself can truly clear that up.

I have seen Hero, i understand what you mean, so hope there is some sort of twist or surprise in the movie that subverts the trope, we will have to wait and see.

You are being the idiot here, sorry to break it to you.

Never claimed any of it as pure facts, it’s just very well educated guesses from someone who is studying writing and watched countless movies (including many with the White Savior trope).

Oh, and i forgot, you are deeply mistaken about your assumption that i won’t complain if the opposite happened.

I sure hope there is some surprise or twist to the story that subverts the trope, in fact Last Samurai does subvert it a bit by making Tom’s character fail to save anyone, all the samurai die in their final battle aganist the new goverment, he just shares the moment with them and carries their memory afterwards.

Lols, you really must think yourself a genius, this is going to be amusing.

Frankly i was really surprised when i learned he is the same director who directed Hero, i enjoyed his previous movies because they were different, fresh, artistic and a big middle finger to White Washing (best example being Hero) since it showed there are talented asian actors can play main roles in international

Read the article and watched the trailer (not to mention several articles and videos discussing the upcoming movie), everything points out it is a textbook White Savior case (which many people first mistook for white washing), look at all the promotional materials, posters and the trailers .. It’s all Matt and very

It was at least an interesting take on the trope, the Last Samurai is another example of the trope where things are also changed a bit to make it interesting (as he fails to save anyone and all the samurai die in their suicidal final battle).

You neither need an advance copy nor be a genius to guess the plot of the movie from the trailer, i don’t care about the actual details of the story but the overall premise is surely that of a White Savior story through and through, i have seen enough stories of that type to know one when i see it.

Yeah, that’s why all the movie posters seen so far have only Matt on them, besides .. He is only the main character after all, according to you it seems he is only going to travel to China to sit on the wall picking his teeth with those fancy arrows while the other heroes do all the ass kicking .. Sure sure ... Keep

Very cute, please do so.

That’s what happens when you cram several volumes of manga into a 2hr movie, despite how iconic the movie is it basically butchers the story (removing entire characters and arcs) and ruins its pacing.

1-White washing isn’t a fake issue (even if we agree this specific movie isn’t a case of white washing, there are many other cases), in fact most problems in media industry (specially Hollywood) are extensions of real life problems.

Yeah, it isn’t white washing, it’s more of the “White Savior” trope, like in Avatar and Tarzan and many other stories and movies the white guy comes into a different country/culture (usually less civilized, but it’s not the case here) and not only does he become better than them at the things they have been doing

Nothing better than seeing a cheater get their comeuppance live in front of a huge crowd, but seriously .. What was he thinking when he did this XD
