I believe glitched runs are still considered legit even post-update. I know it’s common for speedrunners to use unpatched or even Japanese versions of games that still contain glitches. Bloodborne and Dark Souls 2 for example, are still run pre-patched for the glitches and shortcuts.

For a lot of modern games that support patches, different versions will fall under different categories. If a particular patch is more fun/interesting to run than others, it can remain an active category well past its active release period.
