I’m not sure I would describe it as a “bromance”. I read their relationship as more functional than based on any particular feelings of friendship. Certainly, they recognise that working together is for their mutual benefit and, to that end, trust and respect one another. I guess perhaps that passes for friendship in Read more

They’re bones, no? The big round ones that look like apples are skulls? You can see more clearly near the base of the cross.

I plan to watch the Monaco Grand Prix and complain about it. (Formula One stands for just about everything I am against, so why do I fucking love it!?) Read more

Yes, I have that! Especially if the movie has some reference to video or television. Like, I want to see Funny Games because I know it’s so influential on the horror that followed but I know enough about its relationship with TV/video to know that watching it on a TV in my house - especially as I live alone - would

I’ve recently moved and have a similar dilemma. It’s not that I don’t have time now - if anything I have more time. It’s just that where I used to live, there were lots of really great cinemas. Beautiful old cinemas, tiny single-screens, an anarchist cinema, a documentary cinema.... And, although my preference is for Read more

I love that clip! It’s the giggling that makes it even better.

On the bright side, I had genuinely forgotten that Kate was pregnant. Now I know to steel myself. I don't think I can manage to skip the country like I did last time....

I don’t mean “pretty dresses” as in anything too extravagant. This was a snap purchase in a moment of overexcitement, but most of what I’m going for is fairly run-of-the-mill office wear. (Albeit with minimal buttoning in the chest region.) But I’m used to Dickies and a jacket covered in industrial adhesive stains, so Read more

I love Busty Girl Problems! The comic, that is. The problems, less so.

That is genius! I’ll probably wear this one for casual (and for Halloween because, with my long black hair, I’ll look like Wednesday Addams in it anyway), but I’ll bear that in mind if I have any similar crises in future.

I liked it and, as you say, enjoyed that there was a sustained sense of dread rather than the quietquietquietBANG employed by a lot of modern horror. I liked that there were rules which were clearly defined - sort of like the Weeping Angels from Doctor Who - but I did find that the rules made it too easy to fix. (Get Read more

We have a foundry where I work but they don’t let me in. Presumably so I don’t discover their satanic goings-on. Also so I don’t fall in the furnaces. But principally the satanic bit.

I spent all of Maps to the Stars convinced Agatha was being played by Saoirse Ronan. I was Googling it for other purposes when I discovered she was actually Mia Wasikowska. Also news to me: Saoirse Ronan isn’t British.

I have found a non-child-capped alternative. I have a strange feeling of superiority over the cough medicine, now that me and my sachets of Lemsip are getting along fine without it.

A well-known Tory came to my workplace for a photo op. I got cut out of all the photos for looking increasingly cross and taking it out on an extremely rubbery quiche which I was attempting to cut up with a plastic fork. (We weren't allowed grown-up cutlery, presumably in case we snapped and went for the bastard.)

I was quite fond of this one, also from the bell factory, in which I can't help but feel that they appear to be presiding over some sort of satanic ritual:
