When I was about 7 or 8, my Pop Pop, who acted as one of my main caregivers, collapsed as well due to a medical reaction. My grandmother had severe narcolepsy. Neither of those losses of consciousness look anything like an opiate nod.

I agree that someone should've contacted the authorities immediately as opposed to shooting a video for shits and giggles. That said, better later than never. Until Mom can prove that her custody is a safe and healthy environment, she doesn't deserve her child.

The unconditional love is probably the reason she had and kept the girl in the first place. Unfortunately, I know women who've done that.

I'm sorry, but do you really think that she'd accept help from anyone?!? From her alleged FB posts, she blames everyone BUT herself for this situation. I believe that the legions of people who linked the post to the Philly PD and DHS were outraged for that child and wanted to ensure her safety. That grown assed woman

She may very well, be in pain, but it's DHS's responsibility to ensure that her possibly serious issues aren't negatively affecting the health and safety of her child. Removing the child from her mother's care was a reasonable reaction based on the video (that's an opiate nod if I've ever seen one, and I have).

If you want emotional scars, watch 1000 Days' Promise. I made the mistake of watching those two around the same time, and I was a wreck.

Master's Sun!!! The eerie premise and quick dialogue drew me in; So Ji Sub kept me coming back.

Oh, it IS awesome. I watched the hell out of that show. I suggest that u watch the subbed episodes and then read the recaps from Dramabeans.com. They do a great job of explaining some of the cultural idiosyncrasies that you might miss.

Posh is not the word I'd use to describe Frankford...
Also, I think the saddest part of this story is how UNshocked you, and so many others including myself, are at the video.

You're not an asshole at all. Having worked in the Philly metro area, I can tell you that this shit is neither surprising nor uncommon. I got on a bus in Camden, and some chick was taking a heroin nap in the back; the driver had to call NJTPD in case she was OD'ing.
I will say that I'm hoping that she's coming from a

I appreciate your conviction, though.

Don't call her a stupid cunt; that's offensive to vaginas everywhere.

No. Holding a baby that doesn't belong to me or is my responsibility is NOT my job. Yes, I may do it to help out a harried parent, but it's unfair and unrealistic to assume that your child always had to be my, or the public at large's, problem.

I was raised by a single mom that sometimes had similar difficulties with childcare. Yes, I'd go to her office sometimes (I once spent most of spring break there), but she RESPONSIBLY kept me entertained and out of other employees' hair. This author and columnist are correct: these aren't his/her kids, s/he's not

This is giving me a serious Grace Kelly vibe. Me likey.

this is both funny and morbid. He's essentially made his yearbook photo his death memorial picture. In, my book, he wins.

But I kill him dead fo' I let him beat me!!!

I'm sorry, but the only excuses for not having seen The Color Purple are:
• you were in a coma for the past 29 years
• you are an alien
• you grew up in a cult off the grid, or
• you were literally just born yesterday

Oh! I know the answer to this one: MEEEEE!!!!! Did I pass?

The story would only work if you escaped with the help of the Jersey Devil, who eventually led you to Jimmy Hoffa's burial place.
