I had an ‘89 Maxima SE that I bought new. It was a fun car; I only sold it as I got a company car and couldn’t justify keeping it around for weekend only use. It was the only Nissan I’ve ever owned.

The correct answer to all questions on the NY written test is “step on the gas and go like hell.” (OK, it was funny when I was a teen applying for my learner’s permit in the ‘70s.)
#5 is about 2.5 hrs from me but no I can’t do it. I had PT Cruisers for rentals too many times to not be scarred by the experience.
Even parts of the east coast are trouble; northern New England is tough if you don’t own a Tesla.
I have an XC90 T8 and the AWD system is a little more sophisticated than a different motor on each axle; in the default hybrid mode, the system will shift to AWD mode as necessary. There’s also “Constant AWD” mode, which leaves the car in AWD and manages the gas and electric motors. I live in a snowy, hilly part of…
Is that a now-typical price for diesel in Germany, or was this station an outlier?
Nah, a friend had a 2nd gen Prius he put 450,000 miles on, mostly commuting. He replaced the battery pack at 200,000 miles as a precaution.
I was thinking durian as well. A friend thought about bringing a frozen durian back on a flight and I talked him out of it; the argument was if it defrosts even a little, we will be made pariahs on every domestic airline.
My intro as well, but it was seeing the film in the theater as a pre-teen.
Oh I’m not surprised (it’s nice to see that one of my old customer’s fabs is still up and running, albeit with a different company.) What I poorly tried to say was we didn’t seem to keep building fabs that could build the latest semiconductor technology, which made us more reliant on overseas fabs.
1st gear: Having worked at one time for a mutual fund sub-advisor that also handled large endowments, investments in the US from other countries, and very wealthy people, they handle that money quietly, efficiently and without fanfare, which is what their clients prefer, so no stories. They leak less information than…
I’ve stayed out of TSLA stock and options this year because it’s been volatile. Last year, I realized about $75K profit in TSLA stock and options (which is in my retirement fund), so shareholders can and do profit in a much smaller way. Of course you have to be ready for losses as well (I also lost about $15K on TSLA…
Yes! Salty Jürgen is the best Jürgen. As someone with family from Germany I can’t really disagree with him.
I’m not a big fan of Chrysler/Stellantis, and have no need for something as crazy as the TRX, but there’s that little atavistic voice in my head that’s saying, “Yeah, wouldn’t that be fun?” Hoo boy yeah it would be fun.
Dr. Manhattan.
Friends of mine owned a Mercury LN7 AND a Mercury Bobcat Villager wagon. Sadly neither was brown (IIRC the LN7 was blue and Bobcat was white), but the Bobcat with the upgraded Villager trim had fake woodgrain. Both were manual transmission cars and I remember the LN7 being an fun vehicle for the time, but definitely a…
Motel 6 has gone way upmarket; however, Super 8 motels let you have a campfire in the lobby.
I remember some local clamming boats with slant-sixes in them back in the mid-60s/early 70s.
I had the 1999 version of this car. It’s not neck-snapping by any stretch but it will happily cruise all day at 70-80mph and return reasonable fuel mileage. If all the PM has been done (like the 80 gazillon bushings in the front) the only other thing I can think of could be a VANOS issue, but generally a rough idle…
My employer at the time was the US government, which has 200+ years of being a racist operation.
