It's nice to know I'm not alone. Is there a support group?

My first car was a Cavalier I only had for 3 weeks. It doesn't count. Sold it to my brother. My second was my 1988 Lincoln Town Car. I loved that car. It blew a transmission at about a million and 1 miles and it was sold for scrap. It was horrible watching it disappear on the tow truck. Only to reappear on my…
And then it occurred to me: not everyone knows how to spot a rental car. Oh, sure, it's second-nature to us big city car enthusiasts, who are constantly checking out Lincoln MKZs, hopeful to discover that someone finally bought one, dismayed when we realize the lone occupant is an overworked 27-year-old consultant who…
I'm interested to see what upgraded interior materials look like. The Dodge Charger esque materials of the previous gen (not really a gen but whatever) were sub-par for a car like this. It does look better though. Is that blue over a cream color? I had a Town Car like that. I'd rock it.
Agreed on so many levels. I think my max size for just about anything is 17 inches. Anything more than that is just harsh.
That's one of my biggest pet peeves right now. Vehicles that I KNOW for a fact have bluetooth for your phone and it's there plastered to your face. When it's plastered like that, you are less than attentive to the road. That's annoying.
Fair enough. Context is key. I appreciate you clearing it up. I also appreciate your dealership experience. It's not an easy job for sure.
I agree. The online presence is so important these days. Hopefully that will help over the years.
It's definitely an uphill battle with consumers (especially the older folks who come in swinging). They think they have to be defensive right off the bat. We try to alleviate some of that but it's hard sometimes with it so ingrained. I love that I can work for a place and really stand up for it. It makes coming to…
I get where you are coming from it's just that I wish people wouldn't perpetuate it. It's not helping anyone by doing that. Whether or not that is the common thought process doesn't make it right. Maybe it was once true that dealerships/sales people were just out for the almighty dollar but I know here where I work,…
I know the feel bro. 2 mortgages, 1 car payment, medical debt (forever, apparently) and my car is in desperate need of rubber that doesn't suck. Low pro? Less rubber? MORE MONEY! Makes perfect sense.
Leases and 84+ month loans. That's how. It's not right and it's going to screw us (again) someday but that's how they're doing it.
I'm hopeful for change. Call me naive, but me (and my dealership) are trying to change the way business is done and how customers are treated.
Much appreciated sir. Good read all around with sound advice.
Basically, don't treat private sellers like a dealership salesperson. Not only because private sellers are human beings, but because at some point they will tell you to go away. You can't abuse private individuals like you might a dealership salesperson.
This is one of the reasons why I love Tavarish's recent articles so much. It's an excellent thought exercise: you can get a cool old Ferrari, or a used Porsche 911 Turbo, or a Chevrolet Corvette Z06, all for less money than that Lexus hatchback that looks like a MazdaSpeed3 and accelerates like a moving walkway. It's…
Thanks for the heads up on the laser thermometer! I have always wanted one but they were prohibitively expensive (for me anyway).

Who said anything about ethics? I kid, of course. But it would be kind of neat. "Hey, after you get done flogging it for a week, sell it for whatever you want and make a commenter's year!" So what you're telling me is that verbiage is nowhere in your agreements with the manufacturer.
