There's a long history of orphanages taking children whose parents cannot afford to care for them (I'm aware of this happening in Korea but am sure it happens elsewhere too). Unfortunately, this does mean that kids with parents who love them get adopted and shipped halfway across the world. Terrible.

The greatest person I ever met was this kindergartener I sat with on the bus one day my senior year. She told me she planned on stopping school after second grade because by then she'll have learned all the basics she needed and she'd be able to continue her education on her own after that.

Art school involves actual classes. I should know, I went to art school. You have to sit in a classroom and learn and take tests, just like everyone else.
