Badge engineering is bad when it concerns two cars of very different price levels, where one is claiming to be a superior vehicle built on the underpinnings of an economy car. This is fine, although I'm not sure why they didn't differentiate them more.

Right there with you. The Tiguan and Touareg pretty much speak for the entire SUV market that would be looking for a VW, what the hell is this for? The design looks nice but talk about cannibalism . . .

I don't know very much about what I'm seeing, but I know I like it.

This is a really beautiful concept! Nice lines, fresh design. Very stately. Unfortunately, this makes it look too expensive, and I expect they'll dumb it down significantly to "fit in" with the other cars in the segment because otherwise they'd have to charge more for it.

Definitely has Sonata tails.

Those were pretty rare cars to begin with, if I remember correctly, and were somewhat popular among enthusiasts. I think the production numbers will be high enough with these so that it won't be so hard to find one. I guess we'll see, I could be wrong. If list is $24,000, I think that'll be pretty reasonable.

You'll be able to afford a very slightly used one soon. Let somebody else pay the "drive it off the lot" tax.

Without a doubt. I saw this posted the other day - whoever put it up said it was Campagnolo, which I'd believe!

Sad!

This is the suck.

Need I say more?

Saw one for $800 at the local junkyard, needed engine work.

This guy fucked up.

This is so beautiful.

Admittedly, I've started to fall in love with the whole VW Bus line. It's an irrational love, because I know they drive like drunken whales, but I can't help but think they're cool.

My parents drive a 2.0T Jetta Sportwagen with a 6-speed manual. It is a night-and-day difference from the 2.5. Better fuel economy, more power. Driving responsibly on the highway gets you right around 40 mpg.

For sure. His business model is strange and seemingly stupid at times. What bothers me is that so many people are rooting against him around here. I think it's a really cool company.

I really think the guy knows what he's doing even if he's crazy and seems to be soaking up money. Driving a Tesla was a great experience.

This made me guffaw heartily, out loud.
