Thank you. Took the words right out of my mouth. I have no issue with the character being gay, but seeing these annoying comments like they are taking ownership of a character because of his sexual preference is ridiculous.

I think you just proved my point.

If you buy into the “new” definition of “you can’t be racist if you don’t have power” to cover up their own racism, then you are part of the problem.

If you judge someone based on their race, that’s racism. Period. Stop trying to excuse bad behavior.

At first, I didn’t really care much either way. Sure, I prefer them to not announce anything and let it be ambiguous, but that’s not the way they always do things.

Damn, the real answer is always in the replies.

Answer: A lawyer at Pierce Bainbridge (who filed all three lawsuits—shocker) took the cases on contingency because he thinks he can get a quick settlement—and the free PR isn’t bad, either.

I’m all for BLM, kneeling, critiquing capitalism, etc... but, this is a patently stupid take. Pick and choose a smarter battle and try to not look like a dick ;)

I see you are confused: the whole concept of cultural appropriation is bullshit.

“cultural appropriation”

Hmm. Not really. But keep working on your graduate thesis! :)

You will likely take a lot of flack for this post but thank you for the thoughtful post.

Thanks for pointing that section out. If that’s what the OP was referring to it really doesn’t support her claim in a meaningful way. The data does show average wages and earnings of all men are higher than average wages and earnings of all women. It does not breakdown by occupation so the the differences don’t mean

So, I just want to preface this by saying that this is purely a quibble about the statistical validity of this, and not an attempt to downplay the problem. Any percent of systematic pay difference between genders is unacceptable, and I’m only making this point because I believe the quickest way to lose an argument is

All other things being equal, that’s illegal. Talk to HR or file a lawsuit.

The most commonly reported statistic on the pay gap tell us that, on average, women earn about 80 cents to a man’s dollar

Earnings, not wage. There is an earnings discrepancy.

Make words make sense. Wages and earnings are not interchangeable terms.

leaving out people who have to leave, either full or part-time, to take care of children, relatives, or other family members.
