Well, that was just great timing following the lawsuit. Still, having seen these guys, you knew it was just a matter of time until it got banned. Besides the copyright issue, it is by no means as safe as I expect from Japan.

I’d be really interested to go to a game like this, just to compare. It could be fun! Old-school feeling.

As much as I hate Green, I can see how the noise actually gives you a bit of a shield - turns the crowd in to one large white noise that gives creates a bubble. Being unexpectedly yanked out of that bubble would

I think the big thing your missing is this: Zelda is a must play, and most people (like me!) don’t own a Wii U. So, when faced with the option of buying a Wii U or a Switch, which one are you gonna go with? Obviously the newer, shinier one.

Plus, I’m enjoying it. It’s only $300 bucks, and you get basically a gaming

GOD YES. I lost count of how many times I died because Link decided that the middle of battle would be a great time to crouch. Right as I’m trying to dodge!

I stand by my comment, even with the Aussies laughing!

I was desperately rooting for the Blazers here, but even I had to applaud that shot. Just insane. Then the fan at the end of the 3rd quarter made a beautiful half-court shot for a car! Something in the arena tonight I guess.

The only thing I miss is good pizza. It’s here, but expensive and harder to find. Otherwise, Japan is fantastic. Gotta speak at least conversational Japanese to live here though. Not perfect, but enough to get by at the local bureaucratic office.

I wondered! Got mine at the local Disc Pier (Joshin) right at opening. Maybe 8 people in line - though they also sold out of everything but pre-orders.

Yeah, I live in one of the “seedier” areas in Japan - Osaka near Shinsekai. There are literally Yakuza down the street from me in a semi-legal capacity. It’s honestly not bad. The most dangerous places in Japan are still safer than the average American city. Nothing ever feels that dangerous, and people are generally

Oh, I’m a huge fan of the early Yogi Bear and the Jetsons. However, basically everything from 1970 on looked like garbage. Very cheap re-usable backgrounds and little character movement. It certainly still has charm, but once you know that they were made in cheap animation houses, you can see the strings. Compare this

I didn’t say this was superior. This is... a stylized choice, I’ll grant you. Not the biggest fan of it, but it doesn’t take away from the enjoyment if used right (like the new Mickey Mouse Shorts). I’m only comparing the OG Ducktales to the other Disney Toon studio shows. Ducktales was a great achievement for Disney

I dunno man... the animation in Ducktales has NOT held up well. Chip and Dale RR and Talespin? Absolutely. Ducktales was the first Disney Toon’s production (if I remember right), and it shows. Still a great show, but definitely a little rough around the edges - though it does get better as the show goes on.

In general, I agree. Shaq was not crazy talented. However, you just CAN’T discount his size. If you do that for him, you have to do it for everybody. Of course he was great because of that. The fact that he’s a freak of nature isn’t something he contributed to, but it’s not something you can discount from his legacy

The best real one: an Unkindness of Ravens.

One addendum to the chores item: Farm work. Mowing the lawn and doing the dishes is all good fun. Monotonous, almost zen-like. Farm work? Farm chores suck ass for the most part. And it doesn’t even save you from the kids! They get pushed out of the house to “help” so that the other parent can get the fucking house

This guy is the hero the world needs right now. I will absolutely be appropriating “Congratulations MEEEEEEE!”

Same. I’m the type of guy that liked the original XBox controller because it was the right size. This looks horrible to hold.

Brian, you live in Osaka - what’s your favorite arcade here? I’m bouncing between Namba Club Sega and the DenDen Town Taito Station. Any recommendations?

I’m in Japan at the moment, and can say that while rhythm games are still surprisingly popular, they aren’t the bulk. You are mostly right though: every arcade is about 30% UFO machines (crane games), 30% fighting games, and 30% rhythm games. That leaves about 5% for the card-based games, and 5% for everything else

Well, you build a castle that survived two government-ending sieges and a modern warfare bombing without some scratches. It’s not so easy!
