I was born halfway through the ‘80s, so I’m happy with ‘90s numbers. Subcompacts and compacts should ideally be around 100HP, midsize cars need at least 130-140HP, and fullsize cars should have at least 200-220HP. Naturally, some numbers may need to balloon accounting for weight.
