Thank you. That's exactly what I was addressing with these silly comments, "Black women be acting crazy and harassing Black dudes who are with non-Black women." You may get the side-eye, at most, but stop perpetrating this nonsense that Black women have nothing better to do than shout at you on the street. How man

It's "Medals of Freedom." There is no "s" at the end of Freedom.

I was exaggerating for effect. But no, I don't believe Black woman anywhere in NYC are are yelling out to an interracial couple "Why don't you date your own kind." This stereotype of the bitter , lonely Black woman who has nothing better to do than shout at strangers on the street is so played out. Interracial dating

That's just semantics.

Fort Greene.

It doesn't matter who the perpetrator is. Prejudice to me is the thought, when you put action behind it you are being racist.

It's a bummer for sure. There was this picture of her first season's writer's room that some magazine took and it depicted a sea of White, fratty-looking guys and Mindy as the lone non-White and female writer. It was a bit demoralizing, especially as a show that has billed itself as a romantic comedy with a

I was just referring to her ancestry/enthnicity. I think it's pretty obvious to anyone with passing familiarity with her that she's American. Very, very American.

Thanks Dodai. A great article.

I live in Brooklyn where it's rare to see a couple where both people are the same ethnicity/race. I do not at all beleive that Black women are shouting "Why don't you date your own kind" to a Black guy in Brooklyn. They would go horse from shouting it 1,000 times a day.

No. There is institutional racisim and individual racism and they are two separate concepts. ANYONE can be racist. My Black father won't hire young Hispanic men to do his yard work because he thinks they are likely to steal from them and instead hires young White guys to do his yard workwork. That is racist as f&#k.

What? Sorry, I don't believe that at all.

But isn't she doing that? Isn't she making it easier for the next younger singer who doesn't want to be "sugar and spice and everything nice" to get a chance to be herself? Isn't that breaking down barriers? We see a young woman comfortable in her own skin, celebrating her sexuality, being loud and refusing to be

Simply put, take extra care when identifying minorities because, unlike with White folks there is A LOT of historical baggage of treating non-White people as less than human. Take the extra 10 minutes to Google people, go on their IMBD page, etc. It's silly and perhaps funny to mix up 2 of the look-alike blonde

Has this been circulated to Doug Barry yet? He may die of shock so approach him gingerly with the news...

I was obsessed with The Best Man when it came out. It's rare to see that many Black people on a movie screen with no one getting shot, raped, spit on, knocked down with powerful water hoses, or throwing, hitting, or dunking a ball. Black folks having jobs, hanging out, dating, getting married, breaking up...almost

This is a post about how the young woman (a "little person" (apologies if that's not the correct term)) in the bear costume felt after the VMAs. There are several other reports of back-ups dancers feeling degraded after the show as well. It's sad all around :-(.

She's obese. People who enjoy her would like her to get healthy. Not sure why that's met with such scorn :-(.
