KW is a poor example. KW has been on the cover of about 6 magazines in the last year, has been nominated for an Emmy, was a guest judge on Project Runway, is hosting SNL. And Zoe Saldena has been on the cover of several mags in the last year and is working on a very high profile bio pic of Nina Simone that has already

Well, ummmm, he kinda revolutionized consumer technology. That's pretty impressive, no?

Yes, the point is racial profiling. Which is unjust, unconstitutional, and largely ineffective.

Nope, but nice try.

Errrr...it's bad/racist to point out that a 21 year old spending $2500 on a bag is surprising. Really?

He bought a $300 belt because of racism?

Sigh. $300 for a belt. This makes me sad.

Errr, I think these are poor examples as they are 2 of the most popular songs ever written. I don't have a problem with either—-I like them both.

Mel can define herself as she likes. Race is a construct as we all know and she has no contact with her Dad, his family, and has no interest/knowledge of Af Amer culture. To her that negates her being biracial since she doesn't identify in any way with her Dad's side. It's her right to define herself that way. Does

I don't mind at all that people react heatedly. But I'm not saying anything earth-shattering. How AH chooses to define herself is different from how I conceive her. This happens a billion times a day. Just because you say X doesn't mean that everyone around you automatically agrees, even if "X" is about you.

I'm in no way ignoring what she says about her sexuality. I like and respect her quite a bit.

He vehemently stated (and continues to state) that he is straight and heterosexual. That's the truth that he is living. He's an adult in a free country and gets to define himself however he would like. That doesn't mean that everyone around him has to accept HIS truth as THE truth. We all have brains and will use them

The way people define themselves isn't 100% determinative to me. It's a factor, but it's not The Way, The Truth, and The Light to me.

I don't believe anything was co-opted. They wrote a song supporting gay marriage. It got popular. Can there be only one popular song supporting gay marriage?

"Errr, I'm a bit confused ...how is the way I see the world "being about me" remarkable. Isn't the way you see the world about you? Is that wrong? I'm confused :-(.

Oh, definitely.

Everyone has the right to define themselves as they see fit. 100% agreed. But that doesn't stop other people from defining you according to how they see the world. There are a million reasons why AH may not use the term bisexual. I respect that very much. But the fact that she has romantic, emotional, and sexual

It's also rumored that she dated/hooked up with/crushed on Azelia Banks...the demise of their "fling" leading to their very, very ugly twitter war. In fact Azelia made direct reference to some sort of sexual "contact" between them in her tweets.

Yes, the article on Jezebel blasting the song was so misguided. It is not the writers/performers "fault" that the song got super popular. It got popular because they were already mainstream due to their hit "Thriftshop". Without the success of Thriftshop no one would have heard Same Love.
