I like them, overall. GoT just burned me because of, as you mentioned, its pointlessness and it was buggy as hell for me.

Disagree entirely. Des Moines is an awesome city. Clean, quiet, has almost everything you could want to find or do, and has a pretty acceptable airport, more or less. Its also not too terribly far from Omaha, Chicago, Minneapolis, etc. It is also incredibly safe. Fresno on the other hand is the country’s butt.

Where in the Midwest and where in CA? Your story is almost identical to mine. Fiance and I moved to Fresno (I know) area from the Des Moines area.
